A nice nose promised, but... But no, further on it is a very dry and stingy whisky, ok, the aftertaste pulls out the overall impression, but overall I remember this whisky as a whisky only for inhalation, unfortunately... 22 20+ 22 21+ 86
Sadly all the new Arran releases are a bit a bit dull with hefty price tags
Secret Santa 2025 I rated that whisky at Whisky Life Prague as the best I've had there. €150 is a lot for this bottle, but it's a great, great dram.
Overall: "The distinctive spiciness of Aran is still quite noticeable." The spicy ginger nuances often felt in the Arran 10 and 12 series are still quite noticeable. While it isn't at the level of being inedible due to the spiciness of certain Arran cask series, I still feel the spice is a bit excessive. Overall, the balance between Oloroso sherry and peat is decent, but the intensity of each note leaves something to be desired. If I were to compare it to the official lineups of other brands, it reminds me of the Highland Park CS series. It is spicier than that series, but the yellow notes are suppressed, making it feel more comfortable to drink. Overall, if you struggle to tolerate the spiciness of Arran, this might be a bit off-putting; however, if you are looking for a whisky that walks a tightrope between intensity and comfort, it is a good choice for a glass. Personally, I am always curious about the difference, as the spiciness of Arran is rarely found in Mack Lemour.

This whisky definitely needs a bottle... In different circumstances and moods it always tastes good and always in different ways... In general, it is a sour sherry, smoky, tannic whisky. Where sherry + smoke + oak gives the pleasure of a combination of flavors. This is the work of the barrel and the masters when you can't fully understand whether it is bitter or sweet, whether it is smoky or sherry, whether it is varnished or transparent, whether it is dry or washed... I don't even want to describe the tastes and sensations. And this is its main advantage ! Drink and enjoy ! Wonderful whisky ! Nose - 23 Taste - 21,5 Finish - 22 Balance - 21,5 Rating - 88+
When you drink Arran regularly, this whisky will provide you with something really left-field, and that is something to be thankful for. I like seeing distilleries trying stuff and making it work. The peat and the sherry work together well, and even though I do miss some red fruits in the mix, the other elements more than make up for it. Recommended whisky here! as a big fan of small batch heavily peated sherry cask bottled for sweden i would say that this one disappointed, not quite worth the price
Combination of peat and sherry in the smell is not very nice. The taste is also not something to write home about. Very unfortunate
I cannot praise Arran enough for turning things around over that last few years. Moving from a somewhat forgettable malt to Malts that are commanding our attention. I get what some folks who have reviewed below are saying and yes the price which I paid £157 is a bit high, however my hat comes of to Arran for the great core range that they are offering and for being brave enough to release cask strength expressions like this that are "acceptable" and not "mistakes" that some distilleries are pumping out making us pay for their mistakes hiding behind the sexiness of "cask strength" on the labels. Hats off again for a great carton and bottle wow! a real drink me Alice in wonderland invite. A waste of money - nah - work a try to also have on your gantry. Happy with this one... A bit underballanced but hey still a very good Dram
